Job Description

The mission of the Center for Humanistic Change (CHC) located in Bethlehem PA is to give people especially youth the knowledge and tools they need to make betterinformed and more positive life choices through the interactive delivery of prevention education and evidencebased programming. Drug and alcohol prevention programs remain a core service.

NOTE: The Center for Humanistic Change Inc. in Bethlehem is not affiliated in any way with the organization of the same name in New Jersey.

The Center for Humanistic Change is hiring a fulltime 12month Mentoring Program Manager to oversee all aspects of the CHC student mentoring program which includes managing a team of 1520 parttime remote mentoring staff. This position reports to the Executive Director and is a member of CHCs Leadership Team which assists to develop and implement agencywide strategies.

The Mentoring Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating prevention programs and providing awareness education training and workshops for students participating in the Mentoring Program. The Manager must have the ability to relate well to children and adults and will also serve as an inschool mentor for youth through oneonone and small group sessions on an as needed basis. Program management responsibilities include: hire mentoring staff within allowable budget; conduct mentor orientation; set performance measures supervise and evaluate parttime staff; allocate and track grant funding utilization for mentor hours and program materials; analyze program results and prepare report data for funders. Attendance at occasional school open houses back to school nights and teacher conferences may be required.

This position requires excellent judgement attention to detail and outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ideal candidates need to demonstrate the ability to work with students who are at risk and to provide a variety of social emotional learning supports prevention education and practical skills youth need to build resiliency so they can succeed in school (improve grades and attendance decrease disciplinary incidents) and cope with challenges.

Candidates must have good basic computer skills and be able to manage deadlines for paperwork and electronic data entry. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook is required. Experience with or ability to learn Google Suite applications is required which is utilized to create and share documents spreadsheets and files.

A bachelors degree is required with relevant work experience or equivalent formal training in education psychology counseling social work public health or a closely related human services field. Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience with supervisory responsibilities. Experience in prevention is preferred but not required; training will be provided.

All applicants must have access to mobile and home internet have reliable transportation and the ability to do light lifting to transport files and other materials as necessary to/from the office and school.

CHC staff are expected to obtain and maintain all state and local training requirements and clearances including PA Child Abuse history clearance PA State Police background clearance FBI background fingerprinting check and mandated child abuse reporter training. Clearances and criminal record checks must be in compliance and in accordance with the laws reflecting the ability to work in schools and with children. Other CHC training may be required throughout the year.

*If inschool programming is suspended by the schools but is permitted via electronic platforms (i.e. ZOOM) and/or other CHC approved methods during emergency closures candidates must be willing and able to fulfill the requirements of the position through these approved means.
