EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree required in Engineering or relative field.
- 2 years required of relative technical experience in system safety and reliability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proposal preparation and business capture experience for DOD and foreign military acquisition programs
- Familiarity with Continued Operational Safety process per 14 CFR Part 21.3
- Familiarity with environmental hazard and health hazard analyses.
- Previous experience with MILSTD882E Tasksand 301.
- Government/Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) representative.
- Ability to work with FAA military certification office military customers and directly respond to military customer inquiries
- Create prediction models and mathematical analyses supporting product reliability maintainability & availability
- Familiarity with ejection seat systems and weapon employment systems.
- Must be able to:
- Create presentations and provide briefings to customers and company senior management
- Write route and release own technical reports
- Read and understand engineering reports drawings and electrical wiring diagrams/schematics
- Frequently interact on a technical level with internal and external customers (FAA DOD USAF suppliers etc.)
- Pilotlevel or A&Plevel knowledge of turbine aircraft/powerplant structures systems and equipment
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft desktop publishing applications (Word PowerPoint Excel Adobe Acrobat and Adobe InDesign)

JOB SUMMARY:
The Systems Safety and Reliability Engineer within Textron Aviation Defense will be responsible for defining and executing development and customer funded programs for TA Defense and Special Missions related Textron Aviation products. This position reports to the Manager of Textron Aviation Defense and will interface with all levels of management. This person will also interface with customers internally and externally.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform aircraftlevel Failure Mode Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA) using MILSTD1629 or equivalent process
- Perform 14 CFR Part 23.1309 safety analysis for FAA/EASA type certification using SAE ARP4761/4754A and AC 23.13091E processes
- Define/verify DO178 and DO254 software/hardware development assurance level (DAL) requirements
- Perform system safety hazard assessments using the MILSTD882E process
- Create and maintain hazard tracking system supporting MILSTD882E risk acceptance process
- Support MILSTD516C Military Airworthiness Certification with emphasis on Chapter 14/15 requirements.
- Independently accomplish and document functional hazard assessments system safety assessments fault tree analyses and common cause analyses including zonal analysis
- Define system safety requirements in product specifications statements of work and system engineering program plans.
- Create and implement hazardous materials management program per MILSTD882.
- Be able to use Reliability Workbench 12.0 to create/maintain fault tree models
