Job Description

Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of 240000 residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Libraries team operate eight (8) locations across the Cumberland LGA and assist customers and members of the public with locating materials answering questions and providing guidance on research strategies.

The Team Leader Library Programs and Information Services is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Library Programs and Information Services team including Childrens Youth Diversity Outreach and Adult programs. The role oversees the responsibility of the management and development of library projects and programs.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent experience
  • Eligible for Associate Membership of ALIA
  • High level of interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Extensive supervisory experience
  • Sound knowledge and experience of library programming and collections including emerging trends
  • Demonstrated high level analytical investigative and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously whilst managing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Well developed and demonstrated ability to influence and persuade a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and tasks and to delegate tasks effectively
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of high quality customer service in a Library environment
  • A demonstrated understanding of current issues and trends in the Library profession
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and write reports and grant submissions
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and tasks and to delegate tasks effectively
  • Current Working with Children Check.
