Job Description


Position Summary
The Payroll Tax Manager will develop and implement the organizations tax strategy and manage all aspects of the organizations tax reporting function. As a Payroll Tax manager this position will provide leadership direction and training to Supervisors and their staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews and submits tax related documents or filings which may include federal state or local tax returns declarations or extensions.
Prepares tax planning reports and estimates the organizations tax obligations.
Partners with senior management to outline strategies for minimizing the organizations tax
liabilities.
Stays abreast of tax code changes and ensures ongoing compliance.
Research legal issues concerns solutions and filing positions in compliance with local federal and international tax laws
Ensure Payroll Tax department is processing liability payments tax returns notices etc. timely and accurately.
Establish and Maintain procedures to reduce payroll tax discrepancies ensure accuracy and timely processes.
Verify accuracy and timeliness to ensure compliance with laws and regulations including
organizational policies and procedures.
Notify leadership of regulatory updates and propose and implement required changes.
Resolve escalated issues with clients or internal departments.
Ensure team is following organizational procedures to remain compliant with federal state and local tax regulations.
Provide employee coaching and performance reviews for their team.
Ensure that the organization is in compliance with federal state and local tax regulations by
performing periodic audits as well as organizing and maintaining tax records
Resolve payroll tax discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and making changes
Maintain professional and technical payroll tax knowledge by attending educational workshops reviewing professional publications establishing personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
Research payroll laws and regulations at the federal state and local level as needed
Process and maintain payroll tax payments and returns for the organization which includes
reconciliations.
Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Must have ability to work long hours under work pressures and can consistently meet deadlines
Indepth knowledge of all payroll tax processes including liability payment processing tax return processing W2/YearEnd etc.
Motivated with great time management skills.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll tax and the regulatory environment which includes federal multistate and local tax regulations as well as the ability to read understand and analyze highly complex regulatory payroll tax information.
Ability to communicate complex payroll tax information to all levels of the organization and clients.
Working knowledge of payroll software systems to prepare and process payroll tax requirements.
Interpret and analyze complex data make determinations free from immediate direction and
ensure that payroll taxes are appropriately processed.
Experience in processing tax filings and payments via efile mag media and EFT debit and credit including conversions.
Must be resultsoriented and able to perform multiple projects or tasks in a timely and effective manner.


Education & Experience
Comprehensive knowledge of the fields concepts and principles.
Performs complex tasks typically following established processes.
Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions.
Primarily focused on administering established policies and procedures but may have some impact on departmental budgeting strategic planning and procedural change
Minimum of four years multistate multijurisdiction and high volume Payroll Tax experience and minimum of two years of Supervisor or Manager experience required.
PEO or related industry experience preferred.
Handson tax return processing experience is required.
Strong knowledge of multistate payroll federal state and local wage laws required. MasterTax and Prism/HRP experience preferred.


Required Licenses And/Or Certifications
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC)
required
