About the Opportunity
Join our Advancement team for an exciting summer internship focused on strengthening our donor database systems and enhancing the effectiveness of our fundraising operations. This internship is ideal for detailoriented individuals interested in data systems nonprofit work and learning how clean accurate data can power meaningful donor engagement and longterm institutional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Project 1: Alumni Record Import
In this project youll be responsible for preparing approximately 22000 alumni records for import into our donor database DonorPerfect. Using tools like Excel and Google Sheets youll help identify and resolve potential duplicate records by matching fields such as email addresses physical addresses phone numbers and names. You will also research names online to verify information and use DonorSearch to create profiles for top prospects. Youll work with a shared tracking system to document decisions and progress ensuring all data is accurate and ready for upload. As you carry out this work youll uncover helpful insights that will support the teams goals and youll have the opportunity to present your findings at team meetings.
Project 2: DonorFoundation Relationship Matching
You will support the identification and documentation of connections between existing foundation records and individual donors in our database. This work involves reviewing foundation and donor data researching potential connections using DonorSearch and updating our records accordingly. Youll apply defined criteriasuch as matching contact details and giving historyand flag uncertain matches for supervisor review to ensure the integrity of the database. As you carry out this work youll uncover helpful insights that will support the teams goals and youll have the opportunity to present your findings at team meetings.
Project 3: Duplicate Record Removal
In the final phase youll work to improve the accuracy and usability of our donor records by identifying and removing duplicate entries in DonorPerfect. Using systemgenerated reports and following a clear set of criteria (e.g. giving history completeness of contact data and recency) youll determine which record to retain and prepare others for removal. Your careful analysis and documentation will support cleaner more reliable data and reporting across the Advancement team.
