Position Details
Charlotte Country Day School seeks an Upper School English Teacher to be responsible for collaboratively designing curriculum teaching English and creating a dynamic learning environment for students. We are interested in candidates who are excited to work with and support highschool aged students have experience with multilevel and differentiated instruction and demonstrate a commitment to studentcentered learning.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching a course load of four sections of English (various levels) in the Upper School.
  • Collaborating with teachers and colleagues in the development evaluation and revision of Upper School language curriculum materials and programs.
  • Attending professional meetings educational conferences and faculty training workshops to maintain and improve professional practice.
  • Serving as an advisor to a cohort of Upper School students.
  • Being a leader in the schools cocurricular program in meaningful ways outside of the classroom through coaching club advising etc.
  • Other duties as assigned including attending regular faculty meetings professional learning days and additional studentrelated supervision responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelors degree or postgraduate work in English Education or a related subject area.
  • Teaching Experience
    • Significant experience teaching English preferably to highschool students.
    • Advanced Placement / International Baccalaureate (AP/IB) experience is a plus.
  • Communication Skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Instructional Technology
    • Understanding of instructional technology and its integration into curriculum design and classroom practice.
