JOB DESCRIPTION: District Instructional Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Kentucky teaching certification for elementary and/or middle school.
- A minimum of three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent Assistant Superintendent or Designee
JOB GOALS: To provide direct support to K12 staff in the teaching of curriculum and instructional practices; and to support the Mission Statement of the Estill County School System.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends work daily being in prompt attendance and remains on duty as specified by the Superintendent or the Superintendents designee.
- Guides teachers to collect and analyze data and develop action plans in response to determine student needs.
- Provides individualized classroombased support to implement comprehensive reading programs. This will include modeling of best teaching practices.
- Demonstrates an understanding of best practices and encourages teachers to apply these before during and after instruction.
- Assists teachers in planning sequencing and scaffolding of instruction.
- Facilitates the integration of reading skills/strategies/technology into reading classrooms.
- Assists teachers in the evaluation of diagnostic results and future instruction based on those results (i.e. MAP Transcend KSA etc.).
- Models techniques for effective delivery of instruction in K12 classrooms.
- Provides professional learning and followup coaching to K12 teachers.
- Assists in formal and informal assessments and interpretation of results.
- Works with reading teachers to design instruction as a result of progress monitoring and diagnostic results.
- Solicits and uses data (student work samples student achievement information and teacher assessments) to guide instruction and building of staff development.
- Guides learning conversations and exchanges ideas in a nonevaluative manner.
- Coordinates training of district initiatives for new teachers including district approved current reading program and assessment system (including but not limited to district approved reading program assessment system continuous classroom improvement etc.).
- Participates as a member of district leadership team.
- Participates in district teaching and learning team.
- Supports teachers in identifying and refining instructional strategies that lead to short and longterm goals.
- Provides feedback and consultation about classroom observations and demonstrations that promote teacher teachers with the implementation of Kentucky Academic Standards via the district curriculum.
- Demonstrates exemplary instruction for K12 teachers through the following researched based practices: observation coaching model lessons collaborative lesson planning and small and large group professional learning.
- Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.
- Performs other applicable duties assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days and salary pursuant to district salary schedules.
