Summary:
The Revenue Cycle Management Specialist (RCMS) is a midlevel nonmanagerial role with strong organizational skills focused on resident admissions private billing and payment collection. The RCMS has a thorough understanding of medical billing codes insurance policies and healthcare regulations. This individual will require strong communication skills to coordinate with outside consultants to tackle Medicare/Medicaid claims and decrease the number of denials to increase revenues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Billing and Claims Processing
- Daily admission updates management to ensure accurate billing at monthend.
- Processing of various charges and adjustments.
- Accurate and timely billing of private pay patients.
- Medicare/Medicaid: Coordinate with outside consultants to ensure accurate billing submission of insurance claims and verifying patient eligibility and benefits.
- Review claim denials identify errors correct them and resubmit claims.
- Posting payments in a timely manner.
Payment and Collections
- Tracking and applying payments received.
- Follow up on aging balances and work with patients to arrange payment plans or options.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze revenue cycle data at month end to keep track of possible writeoffs monthly collection amount monthovermonth comparison variances and areas of improvement.
Additional Duties
- Constant communication with residents with questions on their statement and or charges.
- Ensuring all residents information is accurate (demographics insurance mailing address etc.)
- Continue improvement of current processes to reduce time and increase accuracy.

Minimum Education/Skills/Experience/Credentials:
- Associate degree required; bachelors degree preferred
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in PointClick Care Sage and Microsoft 365.
- Effective communication skills and customer service.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
- 3 years of accounting experience with 12 years in healthcare accounting/billing highly desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods: Accountants typically work at a desk so candidates must be comfortable sitting for long hours while reviewing financial records preparing reports and performing data analysis.
- Manual dexterity: The role may involve typing on a computer for long periods as well as using office equipment such as calculators and copiers.
- Vision: Must have the ability to read financial documents and use computers/screens for extended periods requiring good vision or vision correction.
- Occasional lifting: Ability to lift and carry office supplies (up to 20 lbs) as needed for file storage or moving materials.
- Work in a standard office environment: The position is typically based in an office setting with typical office conditions such as lighting temperature and noise.
