Job Description

Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of the Health Careers Program and Retention Initiatives (HCP) the Assistant Director for Recruitment and Programming is responsible for the comprehensive development and execution of recruitment retention outreach and liaison programs and initiatives. This position works with the Director to oversee the overall planning and implementation of the HCP Summer Program and events that support the recruitment of prospective scholars and retention of current scholars. The Assistant Director also provides programs and outreach to enrolled students and contribute to the development and implementation of the enrollment strategic vision/goals program planning policy formation outcomes assessment and annual reporting/compliance with the University State of New Jersey and Office of the Secretary of Higher Education.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the admissions process for funded and nonfunded HCP scholars 8year BS/MD scholars and other campus access programs/cohorts.

  • Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates to the Health Careers Program.

  • Plan and execute recruitment events information sessions and campus visits for prospective HCP scholars.

  • Attend and participate in recruitment and enrollment activities including open houses college fairs high school visits Admitted Students Days Orientation etc.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with high schools community colleges and community organizations to create recruitment pipelines.

  • Coordinate application review and interview processes and participate in selection committees for prospective HCP scholars and 8year BS/MD scholars and provide mock interviews for incoming scholars selected to be interviewed for admission into Rutgers New Jersey Medical School through the 8year BS/MD program.

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of the HCP Summer Program including curriculum development faculty/staff coordination and logistics management.

  • Design and facilitate retentionfocused programming and interventions to support scholar success and persistence.

  • Coordinate events that celebrate scholar achievements and build community among HCP scholars

  • Develop and implement intentional student development initiatives related to learning retention and satisfaction.

  • Supervise and train parttime employees interns and student workers who support program initiatives.

  • Utilize electronic student record/information systems including Slate Banner Degree Works and EOB Navigate to support recruitment enrollment and the delivery of programming services.

  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable federal state and local laws and University/HCP Program policies and procedures that govern academic advising practices including but not limited to the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education and the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Examples include cocurricular activities academic requirements and exceptions caseload management roster review and grant reporting.

  • Serve as a liaison to schools/programs/departments as appointed by the HCP Director and develop partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist with roster review to ensure HCP Program compliance with State regulations and with annual reports grant proposals and relevant data collection.

  • Review HCP data and publications for accuracy and respond in appropriate timeline.

  • Seek active membership and participation in related professional associations and maintain awareness of current trends and issues related to the HCP population.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

  • A minimum of three years of fulltime professional experience in higher education with demonstrated experience in program development student recruitment and event planning.

  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with student information systems and database management.

PREFERRED:

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

  • Experience in health professions education advising or related fields.

  • Knowledge of health professions school admissions processes and requirements.

  • Experience developing and implementing summer programs or intensive educational experiences.

  • Experience in enrollment management financial aid counseling/advising career counseling or other student academic service areas.
