Job Description
Overview: The Sr. Network Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the organizations network systems. As a senior member of the IT team this position is tasked with designing implementing and maintaining complex networking solutions. The Sr. Network Engineer will collaborate closely with various departments to identify networking requirements and optimize performance. This role is crucial for supporting daily operations improving security measures and enhancing overall network functionality. With a commitment to leveraging emerging technologies the Sr. Network Engineer will be instrumental in advancing the organizations network capabilities and ensuring the seamless connectivity needed for robust business operations. Additionally the role involves mentoring junior network engineers and providing expert guidance on best practices in network management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design implement and maintain network infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Manage and configure routing and switching protocols.
- Oversee firewall security and implement security policies.
- Conduct regular assessments of network security and performance.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate new technologies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for network systems.
- Configure and manage Virtual LANs (VLANs) and subnets.
- Set up and maintain secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections.
- Participate in capacity planning and network optimization efforts.
- Implement automation tools and scripts to enhance network operations.
- Provide oncall support for critical networking issues.
- Assist with disaster recovery planning and .
- Mentor and train junior network engineers.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in networking technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP DNS DHCP and other networking protocols.
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting routers and switches.
- Experience with firewall configurations and security management.
- Handson experience with network monitoring tools and systems.
- Familiarity with cloud networking solutions (AWS Azure etc..
- Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Certification in relevant areas (CCNP CCIE etc. is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in documentation tools and methods.
- Knowledge of network automation and orchestration techniques.
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated capability to mentor and lead less experienced engineers.
