Job Description
Head of Web Engineering India
Position Overview
Head of Web Engineering position to lead and drive innovation in web application development across our global digital engineering organization. This role combines technical excellence with strategic leadership to shape the future of our web capabilities.
Technical Expertise Requirements
Frontend Development
Advanced JavaScript proficiency including ES6 features closures promises and async/await patterns
Deep expertise in componentbased frameworks: React Angular or
Extensive experience with state management solutions: Redux MobX or Vuex
Experience with AI enabled IDEs such as Cursor or AI codegen tools like CoPilot Claude or V0.
Strong understanding of TypeScript and static typing principles
Architecture & Performance
Experience implementing Single Page Applications (SPA) ServerSide Rendering (SSR) and Static Site Generation (SSG)
Expertise in Progressive Web Apps (PWA) development and offline capabilities
Knowledge of modern build tools like Webpack Vite and module bundling
Implementation of performance optimization techniques including:
o Code splitting and lazy loading
o Tree shaking for bundle optimization
o Browser caching strategies
o Image and asset optimization
Responsive Design & UI
Advanced CSS3 and preprocessor (SASS/LESS) knowledge
Implementation of fluid grid systems and flexible layouts
Experience with CSSinJS solutions and styledcomponents
Crossbrowser compatibility and progressive enhancement strategies
Testing & Quality Assurance
Unit testing frameworks (Jest Testing Library)
Endtoend testing implementation (Cypress Playwright)
Performance testing and monitoring
Accessibility (WCAG) compliance testing
Modern Web Technologies
Web Assembly integration for highperformance computing
Implementation of AIdriven performance optimization
Experience with Edge Computing technologies
RealUser Monitoring (RUM) implementation
Development Workflow
Version control with Git and collaborative development practices
CI/CD pipeline configuration and maintenance
Code review processes and quality standards
Component documentation using tools like Storybook
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Lead and oversee the design development and implementation of web applications across the entire frontend stack.
Work with global service line technical leadership.
Take ownership on targeted service line objectives for talent growth targets.
Drive architectural decisions and establish technical standards for web development practices
Ensure delivery of highquality scalable web solutions while maintaining technical excellence
Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards across web platforms
Team Management
Build and lead highperforming web engineering teams across global locations
Mentor and develop engineering talent through technical guidance and career development
Foster a culture of innovation collaboration and continuous learning
Recruit and retain top web engineering talent
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute web technology roadmap aligned with organizations digital strategy
Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to drive web initiatives
Identify and implement emerging web technologies and best practices
Lead crossplatform capabilities and innovation scaling
Required Qualifications
Travel Requirements
This role requires up to 20 travel overseas to US EMEA.
Candidate must be visa ready to travel overseas at time of hire.
Technical Expertise
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field
12 years of experience in web development with deep expertise in frontend and backend technologies
Strong background in modern web frameworks and technologies
Proven track record of delivering complex web applications at scale
Leadership Experience
7 years of leadership experience managing engineering teams
Experience in building and scaling web engineering capabilities
Strong track record of driving technical innovation and operational excellence
Exceptional problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities
