Since 1971 HamptonNewport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of highquality essential and communitybased services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with a mental illness developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.

What does a Case Manager Assistant do

As a FullTime Case Manager Assistant at the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board you will play a critical role in supporting Adult Mental Health Supervisors and Case Managers in delivering essential services to individuals living with Serious Mental Illness. Your responsibilities will include coordinating services conducting intake screenings and facilitating care for billable clients while also maintaining a caseload of nonbillable clients. Youll document your interactions in the electronic health record system ensuring accurate and timely progress notes. Your organizational skills will be vital as you utilize Outlook to manage tasks and employ tracking systems for intakes and caseload management.

Additionally youll maintain an updated list of community resources ensuring that clients have access to comprehensive support. Engaging in this meaningful work will allow you to make a lasting impact in the lives of individuals who rely on our services while fostering a collaborative environment with Case Management staff.

Are you a good fit for this Case Manager Assistant job

To excel as a FullTime Case Manager Assistant at the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills as these are essential for effective care coordination and assisting individuals in accessing necessary services. Associates degree in Human Services such as Social Work Psychology Sociology or Counseling is highly advantageous or three years of clerical experience and six months of direct interaction with individuals living with Serious Mental Illness. Familiarity with relevant software tools is vital for documenting care plans and client progress while maintaining accuracy in the electronic health record system. Additionally having a valid Virginia state Drivers License is required to facilitate client transport and access to various community resources. A genuine empathetic nature and the ability to work collaboratively within a team will further ensure success in providing impactful support to those in need.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Associates degree in human services such as Social Work Psychology Sociology or Counseling
  • Valid Virginia state Drivers License.

OR

  • three (3) years of clerical experience and at least six (6) months of experience working with individuals living with serious mental illness.
  • Valid Virginia state Drivers License.
