Senior Mechanical Engineer

AECOM Buildings Place is seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to help lead buildings projects (commercial institutional light industrial facilities such as Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants and Sewage Lift Stations) This position can be based out of Edmonton with opportunities for hybrid work. Some travel to nearby cities may be required. This role offers opportunities for career growth. 

AECOM Buildings Places Canada (BP Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture all the buildings engineering disciplines landscape architecture urban planning urban design economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include although not limited to: Municipal Commercial Institutional projects Justice Education and Government.  

Major Responsibilities: 

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• Lead a team in the preparation of  engineering designs related to heating ventilating and airconditioning (HVAC) and plumbing systems for commercial institutional and light industrial facilities projects such as Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants and Sewage Lift Stations.
• Direct and manage delivery teams
• Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
• Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
• Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
• Prepares technical specification sections.
• Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

In order to be considered for this position candidates must meet the below requirement at a very minimum: 

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus six (6) years experience as a licensed engineer designing HVAC and plumbing on buildings projects including commercial institutional and light industrial facilities such as Water/Wastewater treatment plants and sewage lift stations.
• Professional Engineer in Alberta.

Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer  ten   twelve  (10 12) years experience as a licensed engineer designing HVAC and plumbing on buildings projects including commercial institutional and light industrial facilities such as Water/Wastewater treatment plants and sewage lift stations.
• Past team leadership experience is an asset.
• Project Management designation (PMP)
• Working experience with NBC ABC NPC SMACNA ASHRAE codes and standards
• Experience using HAP AutoCAD REVIT Microsoft Office including Excel Word Project and Power Point
• Experience with Building Energy Modeling and their software platforms (IES eQuest Energy Plus HOT2000 RETScreen etc.) would be considered an asset
• Experience with sustainability standards (LEED Net Zero Passive House Envision) would be considered an asset
• Plumbing design experience
• Fire protection design experience 
• Familiarity with ISO quality management system
• Experience working within internal multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication
