Position Summary 

The Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto (UofT) and the Krembil Research Institute at University Health Network (UHN) are accepting applications for a fulltime permanent Scientist position with nontenured faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the specialty area of neuroscience. The position is available immediately. The Search Committee is seeking an outstanding individual with a proven international track record in neuroscience.

    Duties

    • The successful applicant will initiate and maintain an original competitive and independently funded research program of international caliber
    •  Expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. 
    • The successful applicant will be appointed as a Scientist at the Krembil Research Institute at UHN and is expected to qualify for an academic crossappointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor (status only) in the Department of Physiology Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto depending on their career stage.

    Qualifications :

    • Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline as well as significant postdoctoral research experience and an established record of research excellence.
    • Candidates are expected to demonstrate evidence of:
    • 1) outstanding peerreviewed publications; 2) successful research funding (peerreviewed grants fellowships etc.) and 3) presentations at significant conferences.
    • Individuals with expertise in developing cuttingedge technologies and strengths in the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: neural circuits systems neuroscience and plasticity.
    • A complete package must include (please combine this into one file attachment):
      • A cover letter
      • Curriculum vitae
      • A research program proposal (up to 2 pages excluding references)
      • Teaching and mentorship statement (1/2 page)
      • Equity diversity and inclusivity statement (1/2 page)
      • The names and contact information of 3 references
    • Candidates should also indicate possible alignment with the Institutes current clinical strengths such as those in movement disorders stroke and epilepsy.
