Job Description
- The JohnstonGrimes Metropolitan Fire District is currently accepting applications for fulltime Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic (FF/PM preferred).Applicants must possess a valid Iowa drivers license. Minimum requirements are certification as an Iowa or National Firefighter I (Firefighter II preferred) Hazardous Materials Operations and Iowa Emergency Medical Technician Basic certification or Paramedic certification.

To be considered for Steps 2 5 (Lateral Entry) applicants must provide proof of fulltime experience in an agency comparable to the JohnstonGrimes Metropolitan Fire District for two/three years.
The JohnstonGrimes Metropolitan Fire District operates out of 3 stations with 35 personnel each on a 48/96hour tour and responds to over 4200 runs per year.

Applicants are expected to possess a current (within 1 year of date of application) physical agility evaluation (PAE) and a written exam conducted by the Central Iowa Fire and EMS Testing Consortium. More information on the CIFETC written test and PAE can befound here.
Successful candidates will participate in an interview which will be conducted with Chief Officers and midlevel supervision to move forward in the process. Dates and times for interviews are TBD and will be held at 6373 Merle Hay Road Johnston 50131.
