  • COMPENSATION: Hourly wage is based on Level of Qualifications. *Please note that the hourly rate of paywill beinclusive of the mandatory 4.5% retirement contribution to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).

    QUALIFICATIONS: Initial certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
    • Illinois State Occupational Therapy License from the Illinois Department of Financialand Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
    • Strong management written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and seek appropriate resources and support.
    • Knowledge of and experience working within the Occupational Therapy PracticeFramework and the AOTA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
    • Experience providing appropriate occupational therapy services within an educationalenvironment.
    • Ability to travel to multiple work locations during the day.
    WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to travel districtwide to multiple work locations as assigned; to stand stoop bend reach and exert force up to 50 lbs. to lift pull push or move objects May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities. The employee must exhibit dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
    The Physical Therapist provides therapy to students eligible for related services which is designed to maximize their potential for learning in the school environment to maximize their ability to function in all environments and educate them in how to maintain functional physical skills.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Determine the need for assessment and/or provide educational team with strategies andrecommendations to support a student prior to special education referral.
    2. Identify and utilize appropriate tools and methods for assessment/evaluation.
    3. Collaborate/consult with educational teams to determine student need areas/priorities andgoal/outcomes to be addressed when developing IEPs.
    4. Develop intervention plans including present level of performance measurable goalsappropriate therapeutic priorities and methods/strategies to achieve stated goals.
    5. Implement the intervention plan directly and in collaboration with other team members.
    6. Adapt environment tools materials and grade activities according to the need of thestudent.
    7. Embed appropriate interventions and strategies into naturally occuring routines andactivities of the students school day providing clear directions to staff to ensurecarryover across the school day and the safe physical management of the student.
    8. Reassess the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and strategies modifying plans asneeded.
    9. Communicates student progress therapeutic methods and their effectiveness tostakeholders as directed.
    10. Uses appropriate data collection instruments and progress monitoring methods toaccurately gather information needed to determine student progress and response tointerventions.
    11. Terminate services as appropriate using exit guidelines in accordance with educationalteam.
    12. Produces all required reports and documents in accordance with district timelines.
    13. Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with staff students andparents.
    14. Performs all other duties as assigned.
