The Strategic Division (SD) supports highreliability organizations including Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center and the Department of Energy (DOE) among others. Our support across our client base is expanding rapidly and encompasses important services such as data analytics and visualization threat analysis risk management modeling and simulation cost estimating earned value management program management system engineering independent evaluation and High Consequence Event prevention.

This position is with the Surety Programs Group (SPG) which supports government and private sector organizations ensuring the security safety and reliability of high consequence operations. SPGs philosophy is to help our clients understand and mitigate mission risks spanning physical cyber and human domains.

SPA has an immediate need for a Systems Safety Engineer.

Responsibilities

The Safety Engineer will support Navy SSP in providing vision direction and oversight of safety planning in support of SSPs Command Safety Program. They will contribute with minimal oversight to safety working groups supporting the program systemlevel safety efforts like system hazard analyses and development of modelbased safety. They will coordinate with the contractor government safety team to address safety hazards and environmental impacts identifying and documenting all potential hazards related mishaps and associated risk information specific to strategic weapons systems. The disciplines covered include discrepancy reporting training and certification documentation change control configuration control material review systems corrective action systems and process proofing. In addition the Engineer will identify safety areas of responsibility pertinent to support the weapon system. Areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to): nuclear weapons surety weapons systems safety explosive safety environmental and asset safety transportation and logistics safety fire prevention lightning protection and grounding as well as occupational safety and health and hazardous material (HAZMAT) safety hazard analytics modelbased systems engineering.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Reports to SPA HQ Alexandria VA up to fulltime based upon the needs of the client.
  • Active SECRET or higher DoD security clearance.
  • 3 years of experience as a System Safety Engineer with strong communication skills and experience briefing senior leadership on projects system concepts or design decisions.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute workload to meet requirements and deadlines and be comfortable working in a fastpaced environment conducting analysis with uncertainties or incomplete data.
  • Capable of breaking down complex issues into simplified problem statements and laying out objective approaches to identify and compare the merits of competing solutions.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in a STEM field or Masters Degree in a related field.
  • Experience in any of the following: nuclear weapons safety Navy weapons safety explosives safety flight testing safety technical review panels safety data packages multidiscipline working groups modelbased systems engineering.
  • Active DoD TOP SECRET security clearance.
