The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the states lead division serving people with disabilities committed to diversity equity inclusion accessibility and racial justice. The mission of the Division is to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals of employment education and independent living. This supervisor plans implements directs coordinates and supervises the direct service program of the Bureau of Customer and Community Blind Services/Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education Wood (ICRE Wood) working with individuals who are blind visually impaired and DeafBlind to develop skills toward achieving integrated competitive employment and living independently in the community. The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a dynamic and organized supervisor with strong leadership and communication skills.
Serves as Program Supervisor for the Bureau of Customer and Community Blind Services/Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education Wood (ICRE W) supervising staff and direct services to customers who are blind visually impaired and/or DeafBlind.
Reviews new customer plans coming into facility and sets class schedules to meet individual needs.
Serves as fullline supervisor.
Meets with facility staff to review customer progress and ensure all customer needs are being met.
Ensures ongoing communication with facility staff field staff and customers and their families; and ensures issues and concerns are addressed promptly.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Requires possession of a masters degree from an accredited college or university in rehabilitation counseling rehabilitation administration clinical psychology counseling psychology deaf education special education or closely related field.
Requires three (3) years progressively responsible administrative experience in rehabilitation counseling related field.
Three (3) years of professional experience with administering a rehabilitation servicedelivery program for persons with disabilities including individuals who are blind visually impaired and/or Deafblind for a public or private organization.
Three (3) years of professional experience working with federal statutes related to rehabilitation programs such as the Rehabilitation Act and amendments the Social Security Act Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Workforce Innovative Opportunities Act (WIOA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act etc.
Two (2) years of professional experience staying abreast of technology trends and equipment and use in training for individuals with disabilities including individuals who visually impaired blind and/or DeafBlind.
Two (2) years of professional experience evaluating a training program reviewing outcomes providing feedback and revising training curriculum as necessary.
Three (3) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work providing guidance to subordinates recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements training staff and preparing and signing performance evaluations.
Two (2) years of professional experience interacting with and communicating clearly and tactfully with a wide range of individuals that include state agency officials the public legislators employers internal and external stakeholders community service providers professional and lay groups and employees.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
Requires the ability to travel.
This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 1509) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
