You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailAre you an experienced Communications Manager looking for an exciting and highprofile role overseeing communications within the A9 Dualling Programme delivery team
The A9 Dualling Programme Communications Manager will be responsible for providing oversight management support and direction on communications issues to the A9 Dualling Project Delivery team including supporting Ministers and being responsible for the management of all communications associated with the delivery of the A9 Dualling Programme and a team of strategic communications managers.
The post holder will support and work closely with Transport Scotlands news team and in partnership with specialist external resources to deliver a range of communications to support the delivery of clear accurate and consistent messaging to all stakeholders involved including facilitating Ministerial engagement to maximise outcomes from the A9 Dualling Programme.
Pay Supplement
These are specialist posts and carry the communications pay Supplement of 3000 per annum pro rata rising to 5000 on completion of 12 months successful service. This is paid in addition to salary.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic coordination leadership across all A9 Dualling communications to ensure effective information flows and delivery of outcomes in the Communications Strategy for the A9 Dualling Programme. This will include:
Working with key Delivery leads within Major Projects and Transport Scotlands News team to oversee the implementation of the Communications Strategy for the A9 Dualling Programme and individual contracts which deliver it.
Leading on the coordination of strategic communications advice and crosscommunications input (in consultation with communications disciplines) into Directorate reporting mechanisms (Programme boards ministerial groups Directorate team leader meetings etc.) and submissions in key strategic priority areas.
Management of existing communications supplier relationships/ contracts to ensure deliverables are on time/ to budget and dealing with associated performance related issues and supporting / providing input to the procurement of relevant suppliers.
Preparing communications handling advice for media and stakeholder opportunities including organising media events and preparing responses to reactive media and social media enquiries.
Responsibility for the management of the communications related budget for the A9 Dualling Programme including associated reporting.
Leading crosscommunications working bringing together all relevant disciplines to plan and deliver the development of communication and engagement campaigns with clear objectives supporting programme delivery targeting a broad range of stakeholders including the public media and other influential/interested parties with accurate information.
Working with external contractors consultants suppliers and internal Project Managers to ensure the delivery of various communications materials in accordance with contract requirements and TS guidelines.
Providing strategic communications engagement leadership to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to maintain effective networks create better consistency and opportunities for collaboration gather intelligence and increase impact and effectiveness of crosscutting communications activity.

Technical / Professional Skills:
Experience:
The Strategic Communications Lead role requires experience of leading communicators across high profile topics and SG communications priorities.
The role requires a strong understanding of how insightdriven audienceled crosscutting communications frameworks strategies and engagement work are created and executed and experience of clear measurable communications objective setting and evaluation in addition to crossdiscipline working and collaboration.
Evidence is also required of balancing competing organisational priorities and leading building and maintaining constructive and collaborative relationships including the ability to effectively present strategic communications thinking seek buyin for new strategies and influence decision making at the highest level.
First rate written and verbal communications skills are required as is a strong understanding of complex political policy and communications environments.
The role requires significant experience of working directly with the media with a good knowledge of Scotlands media and public affairs landscape.

Working Pattern
