Education Staff Assistant

Job Summary
The Upward Bound Project is a federally funded program to encourage postsecondary preparation of high school students who are from lowincome families and are firstgeneration collegebound students (the first in their family to go to college). The summer academy for 2024 consists of an intensive sixweek inperson academic program during which the students receive high school enrichment instruction in English financial literacy foreign language mathematics and science. Supervised recreation guidance and peer advising and career exploration are also provided. Teachers will assists with the coordination design and production of classes for Upward Bound Academy in classrooms on campus. Applications will be accepted for individuals with experience in the following school subjects: Math : Math 1 Math 2 Math 3 and Utahs Common Core Math Standards Science : Biology Astronomy Physical or Earth Sciences develop curriculum to meet project objective Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area or equivalency; knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods in order to adjust activities/training session to include participants of different ages; a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects in order to participate in developing classroom activities/programs; and demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions in a clear and concise manner required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required. Department Specific Qualifications Bachelors degree in education and/or instructional topic; oneyear teaching experience at the secondary or college freshman level. Secondary certification or graduate students preferred. Responsibilities
Create & implement curriculum & syllabus to embody the summer program theme. Assists in developing and conducting of training sessions on subjects related to area of assignment. Assists in coordination design and production of educational activities. Assists in development of new ideas regarding educational programs. Assists in development of workshops brochures and educational materials. Minimum Qualifications
Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods in order to adjust activities/training session to include participants of different ages; a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects in order to participate in developing classroom activities/programs; and demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions in a clear and concise manner required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.
