Job Description
Job Title: PointtoPoint Test Analyst
Work Location: Hybrid Warwick UK (2 3days)
Role Description
The client is in the process of migrating the Electricity Transmission business processes from the current shared SCADA system to a new OSI Aspentech/DGMprovided Monarch SCADA System. This transition is necessary due to the separation from NESO (National Electricity System Operator) as the systems are currently shared.
The new ET SCADA system will monitor/control approximately 350 electricity substations. Each substation comprises roughly 150 assets (connectors circuit breakers switch gears) and an estimated 2000 sensors that feed health status and asset values into the SCADA system.
To meet regulatory goals to be more digital and improve operational efficiency the new SCADA will integrate with other business systems and reduce manual data handling while ensuring safety. The programme is delivered using SCRUM until the end of SIT followed by Waterfall for other test stages. There are 4 SCRUM teams across 5 functional areas (MWP MRTF MTNC SVC & PNA combined as the EMS team) involving DGM NGET SMEs testing staff and other supplier resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Business SMEs to agree and document the scope of the stage; document it in the Test Plan and manage review and approval.
- Estimate work required by both Test Analyst and SME feeding estimates into the wider team for planning.
- Ensure PointtoPoint test support is included in the SCRUM backlog by raising user stories in JIRA.
- Agree on test documentation and support SMEs in documenting test results and storing evidence in JIRA and SharePoint.
- Monitor and report on status test coverage and results contributing to the overall test reporting framework.
- Raise and manage defects from the PointtoPoint stage within the wider Defect Management Process.
- Produce a Test Outcome Report at the end of the stage.
Key Skills / Knowledge / Experience
- 3 years working as a Test Lead in a customerfacing environment ideally on a SCADA project.
- Strong skills in test planning estimation design development documentation and execution.
- Experience with JIRA and XRAY (JQL Scripting).
- Strong communication and teamworking skills; ability to explain technical and testing concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to power and control systems engineering including IEC101 IEC104 GI74 IEC 61850 IEEE standards.
- Good knowledge of SCADA RealTime Control and NMS (Network Monitoring Systems) preferably with OSI Aspentech / DGM products (or equivalent).
