Job Description
Are you an experienced data engineer with a passion for leading impactful data engineering projects
At Valcon we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who not only brings technical expertise but also has the ability to guide junior team members and bring the team to another level. In this role you will be responsible for designing and optimizing data infrastructures and driving innovation within our dynamic engineering team.
Tasks
What are you going to do
As a Senior Data Engineer at Valcon you will have the opportunity to lead endtoend data engineering projects from gathering requirements to implementing and delivering technical solutions. You will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing data pipelines and architectures for ETL/ELT processes ensuring that data flows efficiently and reliably.
Collaborating with crossfunctional teams you will work closely with data scientists analysts and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with organizational goals. You will be responsible for ensuring scalability and performance of data solutions that handle large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
With your technical background you will apply DevOps and CI/CD principles to streamline development workflows and automate deployments. Additionally you will take the lead in introducing new tools technologies and frameworks to continuously improve data infrastructure.
Finally You will also mentor junior team members supporting their professional growth and fostering a culture of learning within the team.
Requirements
- A completed technical WO or HBO education with WO thinking and working level.
- 5 years of experiencein data engineering including significant project leadership.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such asPython PySpark or Scala and frameworks likeApache Spark orDatabricks.
- Proven experience designing and implementingdata pipelines data lakes and data warehouses (e.g. usingAzure SynapseDatabricks Microsoft Fabric or equivalent).
- Expertise incloud platformslike Azure AWS or GCP with a focus on scalable and costefficient architectures.
- Familiarity withstreaming data solutions(Kafka Event Hub etc.).
- Knowledge ofdatabase management(SQL and NoSQL) and advanced querying techniques.
- Strong leadership abilities with prior experience managing or mentoring a team.
- Excellent problemsolving and decisionmaking skills even under tight deadlines.
- Clear communication skills to translate technical concepts into business value.
- Professional proficiency in both Dutch and English
