Job Description
A leading AmLaw 200 firm with a national footprint is seeking a Corporate Associate Attorney with 4 years of experience to join its Nonprofit & TaxExempt Organizations Practice in either Birmingham or Detroit Michigan.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated attorney who is passionate about serving missiondriven clients and looking to grow within a sophisticated and supportive legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise nonprofit and taxexempt organizations throughout their full life cycle
Provide guidance on legal entity formation governance and compliance
Prepare and file IRS taxexemption applications
Advise on unrelated business taxable income (UBTI) issues
Draft and negotiate a variety of contracts
Conduct federal and statespecific tax research
Create templates and tools to support nonprofit operations
Work directly with clients and provide responsive strategic counsel
Experience with charitable gifts and planned giving is a plus but not required.
Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of relevant corporate experience ideally with nonprofit/taxexempt clients
Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan
Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellent client service
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong academic credentials
Compensation and Benefits:
Base salary range: $150000 $190000 (depending on experience)
