Job Description

The Transplant Nurse Coordinator reflects the mission vision and values of NM adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevant policies procedures guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Performing more than 400 stem cell transplant and cell therapies per year our teams of experts are here to help support patients and their caregivers during all stages of their treatment journey.

The Transplant Nurse Coordinator will be a member of our Stem Cell Transplantation and Cell Therapy team specifically dedicated to building a new clinical program: hematopoietic transplant and cell therapy for patients with severe nonmalignant diseases.  This clinical program expands access to care for patients afflicted with debilitating neurologic and autoimmune diseases currently a community of people with limited treatment options.  Patients will be primarily be treated under clinical trials advancing science through data and research.

The Transplant Nurse Coordinator will work directly with the Principal Investigator and the interdisciplinary to team to conduct clinical research and provide comprehensive care for patients caregivers through their transplant or cell therapy.  This will include consenting and educating patients coordinating evaluation testing and admission executing clinical trial protocols ensuring compliance with study requirements monitoring for adverse events and educating other care team members of protocol requirements and studyspecific activities.  The Transplant Nurse Coordinator will also play a role in clinical trial activation and maintenance which may include feasibility assessment review and maintenance of protocols and standard operating procedures review of researchrelated deviations compliance with regulatory requirements and support of clinical research problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning directing providing and documenting appropriate care for patients in the designated care setting
  • Assists in coordinating comprehensive care for patients including assisting with the consent process data collection and arranging any required followup visits referrals testing treatment and/or longterm followup
  • Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate ongoing care focused on costeffective ways to maximize wellness and enhance patients lives
  • Develops coordinates and provides education for patients family caregivers and staff based on personalized needs along with serving as a resource for ongoing education
  • Serves as a communication link between the patient family caregivers interdisciplinary team and outside hospitals/agencies
  • Contributes to department hospital or other professional committees and/or quality or process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures clinical practice and patient care is consistent with policies procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Illinois
  • CPRBasic Life Support (BLS)
  • Minimum 23 years of recent & related clinical experience

Preferred:

  • Specialty certification in the clinical area of focus
  • Previous transplant or organ specific experience (i.e. hepatology nephrology hematologic malignancies hematopoietic stem cell transplant cellular therapies)
