Job Description

Discovery Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine (BGM) at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated research scientist to join the Cell and Functional Biology group at the Cambridge Research Center (CRC). The CRC site based in Cambridge MA offers a unique setting where BGM Immunology Neuroscience and Genomic Research Center coexist.  In this role you will be responsible for the conceptualization and execution of cell and protein based functional characterization assays for lead antibody identification/optimization and collaborating to generate stagegate appropriate in vitro / cellular / in vivo data packages supporting PoC for Neuroscience programs. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with cellbased assays cell culture and antibody screening and significant experience in flow cytometry fluorescencebased assays and imaging. Familiarity with highthroughput screening and multispecifics is highly valued. The applicant should be able to analyze document and report data. You should possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable working in crossfunctional teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of cellbased fluorescent assays to enable functionfirst antibody screening across multiple therapeutic areas and drug discovery stages.
  • Design optimize and validate assay protocols ensuring robustness and reproducibility across projects.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets providing insights and recommendations for next steps in research projects.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements in cellbased assays fluorescence applications and imaging techniques to support the expansion of functionfirst assay design.
  • Develop close crossfunctional relationships with therapeutic area scientists to drive synthesis of innovative ideas and solutions to achieve organizational goals.
  • Demonstrate scientific excellence through dedication to multiple projects in a fastpaced multidisciplinary environment

Qualifications :

  • BS MS or PhD and typically 12 (BS) years 10 (MS) years or 4 (PhD) years of experience in Biology Molecular and Cellular Biology Biomedical Engineering Neuroscience or other related field.
  • Proficient in conceptualization and implementation of in vitro cellbased assays.
  • Experience with fluorescent based assay development with expertise in cellculture flow cytometry ELISA/microplate cytometry and imaging platforms.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to quality and details when exercising organizational documentation and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with highthroughput screening programming and multispecific antibodies.
  • Experience with external collaborations and partnerships.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
