Job Description

Hours: Fulltime 375 per week (Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m.)

Location: Lynchburg VA 24501


Position Summary

The Clinician QIDP works with individuals with intellectual disabilities in their residence (Horizons intermediate care facilities ICF) and is central to active treatment programming. This position is responsible for orchestrating all facets of the treatment effort effectively coordinating program services and promoting competent interactions of residential staff with clients in program implementation and behavior management for intermediate care facility clients.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in an applicable human services field
  • A minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working directly with individuals who have intellectual disability or other developmental disability or an equivalent combination of education and experience that qualifies a candidate as a QIDP.

Related Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the requirements for assessment and documentation for ID/DD clients in the treatment process.
  • Knowledge of developmental disability physical/medical disabilities and their impact on the individual and family.
  • Knowledge of related concepts principles and theories in the field of developmental disability and related conditions.
  • Knowledge of personcentered planning practices that meet program and licensing requirements.
  • General knowledge of the rules regulations and statutes related to rights privileges and services for persons with intellectual disability.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic procedures and terminology in both developmental disability and mental illness.
  • Basic knowledge of the relevant standards and requirements under the Virginia Department of Health Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Disability Services and the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services.
  • Ability to develop and implement training and behavioral programs that are realistic measurable and effective for persons with developmental disability.
  • Knowledge of and ability to conduct effective adaptive functioning and needs assessments for residents.
  • Guide care staff in developing and implementing programs that are personcentered individualized effective and meet requirements for active treatment.
  • Ability to be accessible to staff on various shifts and attend interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to provide a therapeutic home environment.
  • Ability to train staff to implement training programs for the residents.
  • Ability to safely assist individuals with all aspects of physical management including equipment use safe lifting and physical assistance.
  • Ability to respond quickly to correct situations deemed to be hazardous especially to consumers.
  • Ability to lift and transfer consumers up to an average of 50 to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training includes both verbal deescalation skills and physical techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
  • Ability to drive and must possess a valid Virginia drivers license.
