Job Summary:

Plans organizes and develops daily activities for the staff in the Comm. Center assures adequate daily staffing assures efficient use of time and resources.

Job Duties:

  • Performs all aspects in the Life Flight Communications Technician Job description.
  • Functions as the leader and coordinates daily activities of the communications center staff members.
  • Covers Life Flight administrative call and be a member of the Life Flight Administrative team.
  • Monitors work flow in the communications center.
  • Functions as a resource person proficient in skills required for the program.
  • Assures staffing levels for the Life Flight communications center.
  • Assures staff is updated in policy and procedure changes that impact the program and communications center.
  • Mentoring: Effectively empowers crew members.
  • Ensure that staff meets educational requirements.
  • Motivates crew members to seek and participate in developmental opportunities.
  • Actively promotes problem solving within the communications center.
  • Encourages risk taking.
  • Instructs staff in handling patient and customer concerns serving as a role model in the process.
  • Serves as a strong role model in professional practice as evidenced by strong relationships with staff and members of other departments effective communications appropriate resource utilization and sound planning skills.
  • Operations: Ensure that staff meet regulatory requirements (i.e. JCAHOPADOH FAA NAACS)Actively monitors the staffing and use financial resources with fiscal responsibility.
  • Participates in the development of the yearly budgets for the Life Flight program.
  • Coordinates applicable contracts to insure the Life Flight communications center is being operated staffed and maintained.
  • Coordinates administrative decision making with the Life Flight administrative team.
  • Supports administrative responsibilities for Life Flight (i.e. performance appraisals mentoring absenteeism ordering supplies staffing).
  • Carries out defined responsibilities in the PAIP disaster plan bomb threat and code orange procedures.
  • Allocates decision making at the appropriate level involves others builds team trust and commitment.
  • Makes decisions considering impact on others; takes personal responsibility.
  • Communicates and supports decisions with others; evaluates past decisions to improve on future ones.
  • Identifies and responds quickly to patient and customer needs and concerns.
  • Provides leadership and guidance in developing marketing opportunities for Life Flight.
  • Ensures that sufficient time is available for staff participation in program safety activities at both the department and organizational level.
  • Ensures that staff attends all required patient safety education programs.
  • Participates in the formulation of policies and goals as well as policies affecting other departments; communicates and interprets policies procedures and regulations to patients visitors and staff members as required.
  • Promotes and supports concepts of positive guest relations.
  • Provides direct supervision to assigned personnel assists with orientation and integration of new employees and builds a sense of pride in employees and promotes good morale.
  • Provides feedback to staff for professional practice issues promoting evidence based practices and research activities.
  • Follows up on incidents.
  • Assures documentation and follow through.
  • Keeps staff informed of changes.
  • Works with education staff identifying and coordinating training activities.
  • Develops standards of performance monitors and supervises staff.
  • Establishes staff work schedule or delegates such.
  • Participates in the hiring process Develops and recommends operating budget data as requested Assists with departmentally based competencies and skills assessments.
  • Assists with program education for new products procedures and equipment.
  • Provides followup to share information obtained at conferences: such as bulletin boards informal inservices etc.
  • Serves as a trainer in programs.
  • Leads the group in unit meetings.
