Current Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential from National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA)
Associates Degree in Health Information Management or related field plus 2 years Cancer Registry Abstracting experience
Knowledge of principles and practices of cancer registry and medical records policies and procedures. Knowledge of indexing classification and staging systems. Knowledge of medical terminology human anatomy and physiology pertaining to cancer processes. Database management skills especially in abstracting and coding cancer related data from medical records and laboratory reports that are computerized. Knowledge of report writing. Ability to read and follow written policies instructions and regulatory compliance standards. Ability to analyze information and mentally track multiple situations. Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing. Good interpersonal skills. Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word Excel Outlook and Teams

Responsibilities:
Collects analyzes and maintains accurate data on all cancer diagnoses and treatments in compliance with state and national registry standards.
Abstracts clinical and demographic data from patient records using standardized coding systems (ICDO AJCC staging etc.).
Ensures timely submission of cancer data to the Arkansas Central Cancer Registry and national databases such as the National Cancer Database (NCDB).
Collaborates with physicians pathologists and clinical staff to ensure completeness and accuracy of cancer case documentation.
Conducts followup on cancer patients to assess treatment outcomes and survival maintaining updated records for longitudinal tracking.
Participates in quality control and data audit activities to ensure registry compliance with accreditation requirements (e.g. Commission on Cancer).
Supports cancer program development and research efforts by providing accurate data and responding to data requests.
Remains current with updates in cancer registry standards coding systems and regulatory requirements through continuing education and professional development.
May perform other duties as assigned.
