Job Description

The Maintenance/Utility Lead Associate Director is accountable for the management of all maintenance staff supporting Infrastructure Maintenance Vaccine and Biologic or Antibiotic Sterile operations. This group is responsible for improving asset reliability and manufacturing capacity by providing maintenance and technical support in the field in compliance with GMP Safety and Environmental regulations.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Lead and manage the maintenance staff fostering a culture of safety compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance team engagement and performance utilizing inclusion as a core principle.
  • Oversee talent management processes including recruitment training performance evaluations and career development for maintenance personnel.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive predictive and preventive maintenance program to improve asset reliability and manufacturing capacity.
  • Establish and maintain maintenance job plans operating procedures and spare parts documentation to ensure efficient operations.
  • Manage equipment turnover packages ensuring that all necessary documentation and procedures are in place for new equipment installations and upgrades.
  • Introduce and integrate reliability engineering principles into maintenance practices including RCM FMEA and Criticality Analysis.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance tools (e.g. vibration analysis ultrasound infrared thermography) to assess asset condition and optimize maintenance activities.
  • Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP or ProCal ensuring effective tracking and reporting of maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with cGMP safety and environmental regulations maintaining high standards of operational excellence.
  • Prepare for and participate in site divisional or regulatory audits addressing findings and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team ensuring adherence to safety protocols and practices during maintenance operations.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for maintenance operations using data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends areas for improvement and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g. production quality assurance engineering) to align maintenance activities with overall operational goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance performance reliability metrics and improvement initiatives to senior management.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders including senior leadership regulatory bodies and external partners to ensure alignment on maintenance strategies and objectives.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirement

  • Bachelors degree of Science (BS) in Engineering (Maintenance Mechanical Electrical or similar technical field) with eight (8) years of experience in relevant Maintenance or Utilities Operations in areas such as Maintenance Supervisor/Manager Maintenance Planner and Scheduler Reliability or Maintenance Engineer or Utilities Maintenance and Operations; OR
  • Masters Degree of Science (MS) in Engineering (Maintenance Mechanical Electrical or similar technical field) with six (6) years of experience in relevant Maintenance or Utilities Operations in areas such as Maintenance Supervisor/Manager Maintenance Planner and Scheduler Reliability or Maintenance Engineer or Utilities Maintenance and Operations

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Successful completion of the Personal Leadership Profile (PLP) Assessment
  • Experience in managing equipment turnover packages creating operating procedures maintenance job plans and spare parts documentation.
  • Experience in designing and developing a predictive and preventive maintenance program.
  • Demonstrated ability to create an engaged workforce using Inclusion as the How.
  • Demonstrated success with Talent Management.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in introducing reliability engineering starting at the design of facilities and/or equipment.
  • Reliability Engineering for Maintenance experience (RCM FMEA Criticality Analysis PM optimization RCA etc.)
  • Asset condition experience using predictive maintenance tools such as vibration analysis ultrasound IR etc.
  • Experience in CMMS implementations or upgrades such as SAP or ProCal.
  • Union environment experience.
  • Working Knowledge of cGMP for pharmaceutical Sterile Biologics and/or Vaccine manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience of interacting with site divisional or regulatory audits.
