Summary:

Selects lumber grades and lengths in accordance with pick lists provided by truss technicians to ensure saws are able to continually cut lumber.

Job Duties:

Reads pick list to determine items to be moved or gathered

Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to saw or to other designated areas

Sorts and places materials into designated area according to predetermined sequence such as size and grade

Notes any and all substitutions of any grade of material and relays this information to the Operations Manager

Keeps a clean wellorganized and stocked work area

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:

Forklift license is required

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Check that the wooden parts are not defective.

Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

Ability to read a tape measure.

Few extended hours as needed.

Education/Experience:

Up to one month of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk use hands reach with hands and arms talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit climb balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift 75 and move up to 200 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (nonweather); work in precarious places; extreme cold (nonweather); and extreme heat (nonweather).
