You will manage the daytoday operations of the clinical coding caregivers within the specific portfolio in the National Coding Team.
The Position
Ensure the coding team delivers accurate and timely coding of all episodes for all casemix activity in line with the Australian Coding Standards across all SJGHC hospitals with a Scanned Health Record system implemented.
Develop and maintain a culture of service excellence and sustainable services.
Undertake effective on boarding of new caregivers and induction/training in accordance with policy.
Undertakes regular performance appraisals for all caregiver direct reports incorporating feedback from relevant stakeholders. Coordinate development programs for caregivers and trainees to increase their capability understanding and compliance with organisational requirements.
Manage caregiver rosters and annual leave calendar ensuring maintenance of effective service levels to balance workload and budgetary constraints including KPIs and Productivity.
Manage coding allocations to ensure all hospitals remain within KPI for timely coding and billing.
Undertake clinical coding resource planning and associated budgeting and manage leave for coding caregivers in reporting line.
Discuss and educate coding caregivers on key changes in the Australian Coding Standards and difficult cases within the team.
Seeks input from the skilled clinical coder workforce and more widely where appropriate to assist in making decisions concerning consistent coding and interpretation of requirements.
Provide input into data quality coding requirements and assist with the correction of coding errors before data submissions.
Assist with clinical coding audits whether internal relevant health department or health fund initiated and identify and implement actions to respond to audit findings on coding process deficiencies.
Research and apply best practice approaches to clinical coding of all SJGHC hospitals health records.
You will have extensive knowledge of the Australian Coding Standards and clinical coding issues along with experience in effectively leading large coding teams including HR administration performance management and recruitment.
To succeed you will possess a relevant tertiary qualification such as Bachelor of Health Information Management/Clinical Coding Qualification and at least five years relevant experience in a senior coding role in a large tertiary or secondary hospital with a wide case mix exposure.
It is highly regarded if you have knowledge of private and public hospital funding models and experience with 3M codefinder Infomedix Scanned Health Record (SHR) and WebPAS patient management system.

Salary: $124196 to $137946 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation
Permanent fulltime position working 76 hours a fortnight
Located at Perth CBD or Melbourne CBD office
40% work from home option
