Help Us Build Strong Teams Become a Personnel Clerk!

The Department of Human Resources Labor Relations and Training Division is hiring for aPersonnel Clerk I in Honolulu. Under the general direction of the Secretary III this position independently performs a full range of personnel clerical assignments related to the Labor Relations and Training Division activities in the Department of Human Resources.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Screening callers and visitors; scheduling appointments; receiving telephone calls and routing or relaying messages to proper persons; and giving information within the scope of personnel rules and regulations policies and procedures contract interpretations and knowledge of Citywide labor relations and training programs and services.
  • Researching organizing and summarizing information from source materials such as directives memorandums database files and reports for the Branch and/or Division Chief.
  • Setting up and maintaining indexes files logs records reference materials etc. for the Labor Relations Branch. Updates Division references.
  • Processing reports correspondence and other materials into final form from rough drafts; organizing and laying out narrative and graphic materials as requested for effective presentation and assures that all reference and supporting data are attached or included.
  • Processing reproducing and collating circulars directives and reports for distribution to all City agencies and departments.
  • Assisting in internal administrative tasks such as requisitioning office supplies and equipment maintenance of equipment inventory and preparing travel printing data systems requests etc. as needed.
  • Assisting in supervising clerical contract hires and/or any clerical volunteers.
  • Participating in internal administrative tasks such as leave control budgetary reporting and accounts for expenditures and receivables for Division budget.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a noncitizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school.Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three (3) years of clerical experienceone of which shall have involved work relating to personnel activities.

Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of various types of personnel transactions and procedures for processing thereof and methods for keeping personnel records; office practices and procedures; use of standard office equipment; and the ability to understand and interpret laws rules regulations policies procedures and pertinent provisions of various bargaining unit agreements; and deal tactfully with employees and the public.


Only education completed at the time of application will be credited. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionallyaccredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided.
