Learn how Premera supports our members customers and the communities that we serve through our Healthsource blog: an Actuarial Analyst II you will support actuarial analyses including but not limited to insurance pricing provider contracting financial reporting and reserving. Activities include data extraction analytical model maintenance preparation of rate and provider reimbursement studies and other statistical analyses as well as production of various reports and technical support to assist in the achievement of company financial and membership goals.
This is a hybrid role located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace Washington.
What youll do:
Independently provide data and perform actuarial calculations related to product development benefits provider reimbursement stop loss health management disease management pharmacy programs premium rates reserves and administrative costs.
Monitor data from internal departments review it for content and accuracy and identify associated problems.
Produce various analytical reports that monitor utilization and cost trends revenue claims liability membership administrative costs and provider reimbursement and performance as requested by both internal and external customers.
Develop and maintain computer programs to support various analyses processes and reports. Consider reproducibility and potential improvements.
Consult with internal and external customers to assess scope and complexity of projects. Complete projects accurately and efficiently within preset timelines and regularly report status to supervisor and outcomes to customer.
Prepare written documentation on all projects to provide a peer review trail and ensure continuity and integrity of position responsibilities. This includes organizing the project work plan notes output proof of review and other documentation.
Present findings as needed to multiple levels of internal and client leadership.
May assist in the training of entry level analysts.
What youll bring:
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Mathematics Actuarial Science Statistics Computer Science or related field or (4) years of work experience.
(2) years of actuarial analysis experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms.
Experience in health insurance and/or an actuarial department.
Knowledge of SQL and other data querying tools.
Proficient in Tableau and visual storytelling.
Experienced in automation of codes and procedures.
Participant in actuarial student program.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong project management to include time management and multitasking.
Proficiency in a computer programming language and aptitude to learn from others. Proficient with standard Microsoft Office products such as Word Excel PowerPoint Access etc.
Strong analytic problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills can explain trends in data to nontechnical stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Must be able to conduct self and peerreviews to ensure accuracy of work products.
Ability to take direction well.
Comfortable in a fastpaced working environment.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including but not limited to a candidates geographic location market conditions and specific skills and experience.
The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Plus Salary Range:
$81900.00 $139200.00*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
