Job Description
Kendrick Recruitment is currently searching for a Head Chef to join a renowned luxury private wildlife reserve located in the heart of the Kalahari. This is a unique opportunity for a talented and experienced chef to lead a passionate kitchen team in delivering worldclass culinary experiences in one of South Africa s most remote and breathtaking locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of the kitchen operation including menu design stock control and staff supervision
Create innovative seasonal and locally inspired menus in line with the reserve s luxury standards
Oversee daily preparation and presentation of all meals ensuring quality consistency and attention to detail
Train mentor and develop junior kitchen staff to maintain high culinary standards
Maintain strict hygiene health and safety standards in compliance with regulations
Manage food cost controls ordering stock rotation and wastage to ensure profitability
Liaise with lodge management and frontofhouse teams to accommodate guest dietary requirements and enhance guest satisfaction
Ensure seamless catering service delivery for special events and private dining experiences
Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment in the kitchen
Requirements:
Relevant culinary qualification from a recognised institution
Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role within a luxury lodge or finedining environment
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent knowledge of food safety hygiene and kitchen procedures
Passion for African cuisine with the ability to adapt to international guest preferences
High attention to detail creativity and commitment to quality
Ability to work under pressure and in a remote environment
Flexible and adaptable with a handson approach
Valid driver s licence preferred
