Work Schedule: 20 hours per week Normal work schedule is Monday Friday 85 with some job assignments that require evening and weekend events.

Desired Length of Employment: Fall and ongoing

Pay Rate: $13 per hour

Job Description:

All positions within Baylor University exist to support the mission of Baylor which is to educate men and women for worldwide leadership and service by integrating academic excellence and Christian commitment within a caring community.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

This Ministry Associate will further the goals and vision of Missions Service & Public Life initiatives and projects through student recruitment and mentoring coordination of daily logistics scheduling programming training event management and serve as an ambassador for programs and activities.

This position works primarily during regular business hours MondayFriday 85 with some job assignments that require evening and weekend events.

STRUCTURE

Department: Missions Service & Public Life (MSPL)

Reports to: Assistant Director for Service

Supervises: N/A

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree
  • Other Educational Requirements/Preferences: must be enrolled as a fulltime student at Truett Seminary the Garland School of Social Work the Law School or the Graduate School
  • Some relevant background and experience in cultural or religious diversity and belonging is preferred
  • Experience in curriculum design mentoring and/or leadership
  • Strong logistical and organizational skills
  • Skilled in event planning

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The applicant must:

  • Be available to assist with departmental programs/initiatives as assigned including but not limited to: Steppin Out Day of Service BearAid Disaster Relief Mission Trips Missions Week MLK Day of Service Habitat for Humanity Santas Workshop service event and Campus Kitchen.
  • Be able to communicate with Baylor and NonBaylor individuals who have inquiries about Missions Service & Public Life events/programming (training will be provided)
  • Be able to serve as a Mission Trip leader if qualifications are met and schedule permits
  • Be able to work some evenings weekends and holidays as needed for events
  • Be able to work unsupervised at times (following training)
  • Be able to lift 25 to 50 pounds regularly
  • Be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • Be able to see and respond to potentially hazardous situations during community service site inspections
  • Be able to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder steep ramps or stairs to access event materials/supplies
  • Be able to work in extreme weather (heat and/or cold)
  • Be able to drive for MSPL events and activities (pending approval through Baylors Driver Training)

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • As appropriate assist staff with other MSPL or Spiritual Life programs
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Support event planning and coordination of signature events throughout the department
  • Perform related other duties as assigned by supervisor
