About the Position:
The George Mason University Center for Spatial Information Science and Systems (CSISS) invites applications for two (2) fulltime Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions.
These positions are an NSFfunded research project. The primary purpose of the position is to build a digital twin for nationalscale fieldlevel crop monitoring modeling prediction and decision support and automation.
Responsibilities:
The two (2) Postdoctoral Research Fellows will focus on building a digital twin for nationalscale fieldlevel crop monitoring modeling prediction and decision support and automation.
Additional duties include but are not limited to:
- Developing and refining algorithms and workflows for crop monitoring modeling prediction and decision support and automation;
- Developing agriculture digital twin theory methods and systems for smart cropping decisions;
- Publishing and disseminating research at toptier journals and conferences; and
- Supervising graduate research assistants and student interns.
Required Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in a related field;
- Knowledge of and experience in geospatial information systems crop modeling or digital twin; and
- Relevant programming skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with fullstack development for decision support systems in the Web environment;
- Experience in software development with Open Source Geospatial software and libraries e.g. GDAL or other open source geospatial packages under OSGeo;
- Experience in programming with multiple languages (e.g. Java C/C Python) for geospatial information systems agroinformatic applications crop modeling or digital twin;
- Experience in data management and databases;
- A track record that demonstrates the ability to work well with interdisciplinary research teams; and
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML).
