TITLE: Custodial Workers Temporary/Seasonal Summer HelpTIMEFRAME/HOURS: July 1st August 25th WORK HOURS: Fulltime and Parttime shifts between 6:00am 2:30pmSUMMARY: Reporting to the Building Principal the Temporary/Seasonal Custodian is responsible for providing custodial services at an assigned site(s) on a temporary basis ensuring an attractive sanitary and safe environment for students staff and visitors by performing various special cleaning operations and assisting with the preparation of facilities for classroom activities and campus events. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepares the sites for daily operation and ensures facility and grounds are clean safe and hazard and maintains floors fixtures whiteboards furniture restrooms and disposes of and sweeps sidewalks picking up and disposing of trash on school windows and all glass with arranging and moving furniture and to safety and operational concerns (facility damage vandalism alarms) and takes appropriate action by notifying appropriate personnel for resolution; examines school buildings and grounds on a regular basis to determine necessary repairs and maintenance. Keeps current logs recordkeeping and documentation of work performed; maintains custodial tools and equipment in good meetings training and workshops required to perform job functions efficiently. Contact with school and town personnel students organizations using school facilities as well as contractors and of all hazardous material in a safe manner; maintains Materials Safety Data summer cleaning including stripping and waxing floors washing and/or painting similar or related work as required or as a situation dictatesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and ExperienceHigh school graduate with two to three years of related janitorial or custodial experience strongly preferred. Valid Drivers License Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of the use of safety devices and protective equipment; use of safe practices and methods in the operation of supplies and equipment; correcting any conditions within a building or grounds that may be hazardous and reporting hazards to supervisor; building systems and repairs; inventory control; and recordkeeping techniques; Skillsbased competencies include managing and coordinating daytoday custodial service operations at assigned school site(s); effective communication skills; and operation of custodian equipment and competencies include planning and organizing all aspects of custodial duties; analyzing situations accurately and adopting an effective course of action; working independently with little direction; comprehending instructions on labels of equipment and cleaning supplies; preparing for and completing assignments in a proactive and timely manner; coordinating work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency; willing and able to learn new routines procedures and develop new skills; and respectful in dealings with DEMANDS:While performing the duties of the job employee may be required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; position oneself to use a variety of equipment and tools; move heavy objects up to and over 50 pounds; and operate custodial tools and equipment.
