As a Teacher at Detroit Cristo Rey and as adults we are role models for our students. All employees are expected to dress and behave in a professional manner at all times especially when in front of a student(s) and communicating with parents.
Parttime teaching assignments range from 24 50 minute classes. There may be a duty period required depending on the number of classes taught. The Teacher will collaborate with teachers of the same subject to ensure alignment and continuity of material as well as with all other teachers for bestpractice sharing of techniques technology use and consistency of message regarding student expectation and success. . The Teacher is expected to track and communicate student performance suggest and support strategic initiatives to help increase the academic offerings and performance of the student body as well as all other tasks and responsibilities as required. Teachers report to the Principal however they will meet with the Academic Assistant Principal and Dean of Students regularly throughout the school year. They will also work very closely with the Corporate Work Study team members to ensure a positive balance between work and school for each student. When required the Teacher will also work with the School Counselor to ensure any student concerns that are not academicrelated are communicated and addressed.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Prepare for each class (Annual plan Unit plans a syllabus plan lessons correct papers conversations with parents & students)
- Submit weekly Lesson Plans
- Prepare and Lead Parent Teacher Conferences (3 times a year)
- Attend all Faculty Meetings
- Develop and Execute a Classroom Management Strategy maintain discipline & a positive atmosphere in the classroom
- Learn and utilize the online grading system
- Offer an Extracurricular Activity
- Attend all required Fundraising Events
- Work one week of the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) Summer Training program in August
- Attend the morning assembly (starting at 7:15) and assist with the checkin of assigned students
