About the Department:

The Department of Statistics in the School of Computing (SoC) part of the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) offers a PhD in Statistical Science two MS degrees (Biostatistics and Statistical Science with concentrations in Modern Statistics and Statistical Data Science) a BS in Statistics with four concentrations and dual MS and accelerated BS/MS options. Though a relatively young department founded in 1992 the Department has demonstrated rapid growth in research and scholarship. It is renowned for its leaders in statistics biostatistics data science and AI with national/international credentials and prestigious honors.

Located on the beautiful Fairfax VA campus in Northern Virginias hightech corridor the department is just 30 minutes from downtown Washington D.C. and Dulles International Airport with topranked high schools in the country. Its main offices in the Engineering Building foster a connected community with other CEC departments and are a short walk to Research Halls mathematics and other science departments. With additional space in the new Fuse building on the Arlington campus accessible via shuttles metros and railways the department has access to stateoftheart facilities in Fairfax and Arlington and vast resources from industrial cultural federal and academic institutions in the capital area. Oncampus faculty rental housing is also available (see ).

The department conducts collaborative research with top corporations and organizations such as INOVA Health one of the leading hospitals in the nation. It has also established new ties with other institutes in the greater Washington area. In the changing landscape of computing and AI the department faculty has ample opportunities for interdisciplinary research and interaction with AI within and beyond the CEC and SoC the first School of Computing in Virginia. About the Position:

Both tenuretrack and tenured positions are 9 month Instructional Faculty positions that are funded by the university educational and general funds. Tenuretrack faculty is eligible for a provost onesemester study leave after a successful threeyear review. Fulltime tenured faculty with six or more years of completed service at George Mason University can also apply for study leaves.

The College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at George Mason University is a fastgrowing force for innovation in research and education.
