POSITION TITLE:Assistant Professor in Rehabilitation Counseling

POSITION DETAILS:This is a fulltime inperson tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and professional experience. The faculty member selected for this position is housed in the Graduate and Professional Studies branch in the College of Education. Courses may meet in the morning late afternoon or evening. We are an onground and inperson program.

As a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and awardee of the Seal of Excelencia certification Sacramento State is hiring a cohort of faculty who will support our commitment to Latinx/e student success during the 202425 tenuretrack hiring cycle. We are looking for teacher/scholars who have an established commitment to teaching research and/or service in and with the Latinx/e community. Successful candidates will have demonstrated two or more of the four Latinx/e Student Success Cohort Hire criteria (see Required Qualifications below).

JOB DUTIES:

The selected faculty member will contribute to program evaluation and assessment to CACREP California Board of Behavioral Sciences and California CTC standards. They will participate in ongoing program assessment focusing on inclusive practices within curriculum and graduate experiences. This position will help in the continual development of antiracist and inclusive curriculum with an intersectional lens fostering multicultural competence and interdisciplinary dialogue. The faculty member will engage in course development teaching and program evaluation while mentoring students in clinical competencies and research addressing multicultural competence. They will support the development of diverse faculty and contribute to culturally competent curriculum across the College of Education and University. The role includes mentoring parttime faculty to ensure consistent antiracist and inclusive practices in counseling courses. Collegial collaboration with all program specializations is expected.

This new hire will support the Anchor University Mission by participating in supervision at the Center for Counseling and Diagnostic Services (CCDS) and help integrate services within the community. They will contribute to program grant writing focused on training and community partnerships aid in growing the Rehabilitation Counseling concentration including supervising interns. The hire will mentor students in research and presentations at various conferences to enhance professional competencies. They will also build national presence by guiding students in activities like the ACA Ethics Contest CSI potential study abroad and other scholarly opportunities. Additionally the hire will support professional development and advocacy aligned with the Anchor University Mission. They will attend faculty meetings serve on various committees and engage in scholarly and community service activities.

This faculty member will support the MS Counseling Program and larger Sacramento community partners in professional development opportunities. They will offer expertise in continuing education topics for students sitesupervisors and community members including supervision training at the annual Spring Symposium and Site Fair. The faculty will collaborate with colleagues to implement program evaluation and investigate issues including training culturally competent practitioners effective admissions practices multicultural competency antiracist practices and clinical training. They will participate in biannual community advisory committee meetings to build partnerships and gather program feedback. The hire will provide practicum supervision for trainees ensuring gatekeeping and antiracist practices that support Rehabilitation counseling students while considering client welfare. Additionally they will support program activities such as the Chi Sigma Iota chapter of Chi Sigma Sigma.
