Digital Consultants is seeking an Instructor Assistant to organize and manage classroom backup to the Program Instructor; organize manage and prepare classes in all areas of the STARBASE curriculum for visiting teachers and students; provide team teaching instruction; and maintain the classroom order and materials. They shall also assist the Director and Classroom Instructor with the classroom inventories student workbooks name tags awards and graduation certificates. The Teaching Assistant reports to the Director.


Duties to include:

  • Assist Program Instructor with preparation of materials classrooms and activities for daily instruction
  • Assist program instructor with reading and knowing scripts for lessons and to place materials and equipment needed for instruction
  • Provide classroom instruction by team teaching in partnership with other instructors
  • Clean and store classroom materials and equipment
  • Restock materials for instruction
  • Assist Program Instructor to maintain classroom technology; ensure that robots tablets computers and other classroom technology is charged and in good working order.
  • Identify participating individual students needs and provide appropriate intervention and accommodation to help ensure success in program completion
  • Assist visiting teachers and other district staff who participate in STARBASE
  • Assist district teachers in completing online STARBASE survey
  • Assist in the maintenance of scrapbook of photos press releases announcements and other pertinent materials documenting program progression and success
  • Assist in selecting and preparing requests for appropriate materials for purchase
  • Assist in verifying material shipments updating material inventories and putting away supplies
  • Assist classroom instructors with the maintenance of classroom inventories and consumables to be ordered and notify the office manager when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Assist with the preparation of student name tags awards and graduate certificates
  • Classroom small break room and office maintenance and cleaning
  • Supervise lunch and help organize for class as needed
  • Assist in all other duties or activities deemed necessary by the STARBASE Director for mission success
Requirements
  • Knowledge of internetbased tools as well as Onshape Google Workspace Software and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to recognize and support the Program Instructors in effective teaching practices and classroom management skills
  • Ability to provide team teaching instruction to students in STEM subjects according to DOD STARBASE required lessons and objectives and keep current with new DOD STARBASE curriculum as needed
  • Ability and willingness for quality communication and effective relationships with military and civilian personnel district school teachers students parents and volunteers
  • Must be able to travel within continental US to complete initial PTC/Onshape 3D CAD training to meet requirements for instructing students on the required CAD software
  • Ability and willingness to travel in POV locally as needed
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for community outreach supplemental events and training as needed

Qualification Criteria:

  • Education: High School diploma or higher must be at least 18 years old with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must pass the security and background checks for working on a DoD facility and working with children within thirty days of being hired. No interaction with children shall be authorized until a background check is complete
  • Maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid certification

Physical Requirements:

  • To fulfill the duties of the position it will require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. The position may require extended periods of sitting standing or walking up to 1 mile without restriction as well as frequent bending and reaching. Occasional use of a ladder may also be required from time to time.

Salary Description
$28.84/hr base rate $4.98/hr for H&W benefits
