Job Description

What You Will Do:
Under direct supervision the Engineering Intern provides assistance and support to ENSTARs Engineering department with regard to file maintenance project design/management and conceptual level drawings.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- AutoCAD or Solid Works: Establish new or modify existing drawings to support estimates and system documentation.
- Database and file entry: Organize and link project data to GIS system. Review project files to ensure all data is in place.
- Assist with project logistics: Coordinate with Engineers to help develop material lists secure material quotes and identify applicable specifications. Research different products from vendors.
- Assist with project design: Help engineers by working with designers/surveyors to complete drawings for a project. May also include site visits to a proposed project to gather field information. Site visits may include flying.
- Assist with construction/project management: Go on field site visits to monitor construction progress and to gather information required to resolve issues encountered during construction. Site visits may include flying.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
What You Will Bring:
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum second year engineering student.
- Valid Alaska Drivers License and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the ENSTARs Driving Policy.
- Ability to pass a drug background credit past employment and driving record screening.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Excellent organizational management judgment and project management skills with the ability to accurately and confidentially process and maintain data.
- Engineer knowledge and ability to perform related tasks.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to evaluate data compile statistics and prepare reports graphs tables and charts using Excel/Access (Power BI experience preferred but not required).
- Strong analytical skills to assess and resolve complex issues.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
- Good working knowledge of various personal computer business software applications presently used by ENSTAR and ability to learn new systems or software packages as necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to prepare clear and understandable written documentation and communication materials.
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations.
