Job Description
Join our growing automotive group as a Group Automotive Accounting Controller based in Bethesda MD! This is a highimpact leadership role overseeing the accounting operations for multiple dealerships. Were looking for a detailoriented handson professional with dealership accounting experience who thrives in a dynamic multilocation environment.
Jim Coleman Automotive is a 3rd generation familyowned dealership founded in 1968 by Mr. William Coleman. The Coleman family has been selling and servicing cars in the DMV since the 1950s. Mr. Coleman had a vision of establishing a dealership with a superior level of customer service standards. He believed that Bethesda residents and Washingtonians alike possessed higher expectations of retailers. He was ahead of his time striving to deliver a unique customerfocused car buying experience. He passed along this legacy of customer care to his son Jim who led the companys expansion and diversified its brand offerings in the 1980s and 90s with an expanded portfolio including Toyota Infiniti Honda Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships. Jim Coleman Automotive now has 9 franchises throughout Maryland and can be found in Bethesda Silver Spring Clarksville and Ellicott City. The company is now led by brothers Patrick and Brendan Coleman who strive each day to optimize the business and to continue to broaden the reach of the Jim Coleman brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting functions across multiple dealership locations
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and monthend closings
- Maintain internal controls and compliance with company policies and industry regulations
- Manage and develop accounting office staff at each location
- Liaise with dealership General Managers and executive leadership on financial matters
- Monitor cash flow expenses and budgeting processes
- Work with external auditors and tax professionals as needed
Qualifications:
- 5 years of automotive dealership accounting experience
- Prior experience in a Controller or Office Manager role preferred
- Strong understanding of dealership operations financial statements and DMS systems (e.g. CDK Reynolds & Reynolds)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different locations
- Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $100000 $160000 based on experience

Office Location: Bethesda MD This is an onsite leadership role with travel to our dealership locations as needed.
