Description
The primary goal of this role is to provide Christ-centered academic support to High School students in grades 9-10 and when needed those in grades 11-12 in partnership with teachers parents and administration all in accordance with the philosophy mission policies and procedures of Monte Vista Christian School.
Essential Job Duties
- Build and manage student schedules.
- Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with teachers and parents.
- Meet with studentsboth those who are excelling and those who may need additional support.
- Conduct routine progress checks using the gradebook to track academic performance.
- Manage and respond to email correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with Student Services initiatives which may include occasional evening events.
Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience working with high school students in an educational or counseling capacity is strongly preferred.
Faith Alignment: Commitment to the schools Christian mission and values; ability to integrate biblical principles into student support when appropriate.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal; ability to work effectively with students parents and staff.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks maintain student records and coordinate schedules efficiently.
Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using digital gradebooks scheduling software and basic office technology (email spreadsheets etc.).
Confidentiality: Maintains a high level of discretion and confidentiality in handling student information and sensitive issues.
Flexibility: Willingness to assist with school events or evening programs as needed
Requirements
Education and other Requirements
Bachelors degree in School Counseling Education Psychology or a related field required. Masters degree in School Counseling or a related area preferred.
Detailed Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25lbs
Ability to operate a telephone and other relevant office equipment
Ability to sit walk stand bend and/or squat perhaps for prolonged periods of time
