About the Role:

We are seeking for a highly motivated experienced Backend Team Lead with strong backend roots to join our R&D team. You will lead and mentor a team of distinguished backend and full stack engineers and design and build a global resilient system that manages cross border finances creating topnotch consumerfacing applications using the best user experience techniques and serving millions of customers.

You will be working in a global team collaborating closely with the product BI and UX teams to constantly improve our service based on a datadriven approach along with direct feedback from our customers. The team is responsible for improving the Remitly service and building new experiences and services in order to change the industry.

You Will:

• Lead a team of accomplished software engineers building complex flows and business logic in highly available financial services while taking into account high data integrity and security standards.
• Take responsibility over a widely used product running initiatives from planning execution and monitoring in production and continuously improve the process in order to create value for our customers.
• Take a handson approach contributing to the code and the product.
• Define and track the KPIs of the team.
• Work closely with different stakeholders such as product managers BI tech support finance team and operations.
• Work closely with the product team in order to consistently improve our service based on a datadriven approach as well as direct feedback from our customers.
• Drive and maintain high engineering standards for execution code quality and customer satisfaction.

You Have:

• BSc. in computer science/software engineering from a highend university or comparable experience
• 8 years of handson experience building productiongrade products
• 2 years of experience leading software development teams
• Deep knowledge of several programming languages such as Python Go Java Scala (preferably Javascript and Typescript)
• Handson experience and acquired best practices with largescale systems in production using backend frameworks (preferably ) cloud services and system architectures ( microservices and monolithic event driven systems etc.)
• Experience in running complex distributed workflows which involves multiple parties (both internal and external)
• Great data engineering skills working with multiple database systems understanding the different trade offs performance tweaks and have knowledge in relational databases NoSQL databases data warehouses and distributed databases.
• People person being able to lead a team of engineers and mentor them to grow and fulfill their career goals
• Being able to work in a multicultural environment lead hard discussions for getting into decisions and drive them for execution.
• Proactive mindset pushing for team and personal excellence
