The Role
The Virtual Production CGI Generalist and Engine Operator is a multifaceted role combining expertise in computergenerated imagery (CGI) with proficiency in operating virtual production engines. This position is crucial for creating highquality CGI elements and ensuring their seamless integration into the virtual production process. The role requires a unique blend of artistic skill technical knowledge and operational acumen making it ideal for a professional who thrives in a dynamic creative environment.

Core Responsibilities

• CGI Creation and Enhancement:
  • Develop and refine a wide range of CGI elements including characters environments and special effects ensuring they align with the creative vision.
  • Utilize advanced techniques in 3D modeling texturing rigging and animation to produce highquality CGI assets.
• Engine Operation and RealTime Rendering:
  • Operate virtual production engines such as Unreal Engine to integrate CGI elements into liveaction sequences.
  • Manage realtime rendering processes ensuring smooth and efficient execution during production.
    
    
• Technical Troubleshooting and Optimization:
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to CGI and engine operations providing timely solutions to maintain production flow.
  • Optimize CGI assets and workflows for realtime performance balancing visual fidelity with technical constraints.
    
    
• Collaboration with Production Teams:
  • Work closely with directors cinematographers and other production team members to ensure a cohesive integration of CGI elements.
  • Provide expert advice and insights on the capabilities and limitations of CGI within the virtual production environment.
    
    
• Quality Control and Enhancement:
  • Ensure that all CGI elements meet the required quality standards and artistic direction.
  • Continuously improve CGI assets based on feedback from the production team and technical performance data.
    
    
• Research and Development:
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in CGI and virtual production technologies.
  • Experiment with new tools and techniques to enhance the quality and efficiency of CGI creation and integration.

Skills & Qualifications

• Extensive experience in CGI creation including a strong portfolio showcasing a range of skills in 3D modeling texturing and animation.
• Proficiency in operating virtual production engines particularly Unreal Engine.
• Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
• Familiarity with the workflow and operational demands of a virtual production environment.

Desired Experience

• Previous experience in a CGI Generalist or similar role within a virtual production film or gaming industry.
• Demonstrated capability in realtime rendering and integrating CGI with liveaction footage.
