About the unit
We are an allwomens unit with a diverse population. GYN unit is a 32bed unit that provides compassionate and highquality care for gynecologic surgery medical and postpartum readmission patients. Our 6ST team is committed to ensuring professional safe and patientfamily centered care for all our patients and their families.

Scope of work
The RN under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patientfamily centered care principles to assess plan implement evaluate and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate degree or from an ACEN accredited Diploma program.
- BSN MSN DNP/PhD if not minimum BSN prepared new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience is required to sign an educational contract upon hire to complete BSN within specified timeframe and adhere to contract stipulations. RN must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within the next five (5) years. This is effective April 18 2023.
- Graduates from a nonaccredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
- AHA ARC or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire/transfer
- Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
- External candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 years of a combination of Gyn and Med/Surg RN clinical experience. External candidates must successfully complete a required competency assessment provided by Nursing Education.
- Internal candidates with less than 2 years of Gyn and Med/Surg RN clinical experience must be approved by their current nurse leader and the site Chief Nursing Officer. These candidates are to remain a unitbased PRN employee until they reach 2 years of nursing experience.
