Join a team that makes a difference! The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is hiring a Building Maintenance Specialist at the Arizona State Prison Complex Douglas. This is a handson role for someone skilled in general maintenance covering repairs for plumbing electrical HVAC and kitchen equipment. Youll help keep our facilities running smoothly by planning and completing projects supervising inmate work crews and ensuring all equipment and tools are in top condition. Schedules and plans maintenancerelated projects to include pricing material list equipment and needs
Performs maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks
Completes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor
Basic knowledge of office equipment including computers internet research and completion of documents
Inspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and all are accounted for
Supervises and evaluates inmate workers performance
Attends staff meetings and training as required and performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Drives on State business
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
Structural issues regarding building and utility service systems including blueprints safety practices and codes
All trades including electrical electronic plumbing HVAC carpentry general facility maintenance preventive maintenance etc.
Budgeting to include estimating costs and ordering materials
Common and specialized tools and equipment for performing duties
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and national and local building codes/regulations
Skill in:
Basic reading of blueprints schematics and general construction
Mechanical devices electrical and preventative maintenance
Using and demonstrating the use of common and specialist tools
Written and verbal communication
Building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
Ability to:
Lift/Carry 50lbs
Push/Pull 50lbs
Walk/Run .25 miles
Work in a prison environment
Supervise inmate work crews
Learn and adhere to ADCRR policies and procedures
Onthejob training as a technical or generalized maintenance staff person
Technical education
Specialized trade schools and unions
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation drug test and a medical/physical examination.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R210207.11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Positions in this classification participate in the Corrections Officer Retirement Plan (CORP).
