Job Description Summary:

The HRIS Specialist is responsible for the effective utilization maintenance and optimization of the Workday platform. This role ensures data integrity compliance and provides technical support to enhance HR processes. The ideal candidate is a detailoriented problemsolver with strong analytical and communication skills capable of collaborating with various stakeholders. A commitment to continuous learning and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential for success.

Work Environment: This position is primarily remote with onsite meetings at KUMC approximately once per quarter for team meetings training or other business needs.

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

Workday Data Management:

  • Manage and update employee data in Workday including personal information job details compensation benefits and performance records ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain and update Workday Supervisory Organizations to reflect accurate organizational structure and reporting lines.
  • Verify and update employee records for prior state service including State IDs and continuous service dates and coordinate with state agencies on employee transfers.
  • Work with the Compensation team to set up new job profiles and update existing profiles in both Workday and the state system.
  • Collaborate with IT to monitor and troubleshoot data interfaces between Workday and external systems including the State of Kansas system.
  • Participate in Workday system upgrades and project implementations including test execution regression testing and user acceptance testing.

Workday Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to HR users to enhance system utilization.
  • Resolve HR process and workflow issues addressing and correcting data discrepancies.
  • Manage and resolve Workday Help cases efficiently and accurately.

Workday Reporting & Data Analysis:

  • Create maintain and run Workday reports to support compliance and internal decisionmaking.
  • Analyze and manipulate HRIS data using Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Conduct regular audits and data quality checks resolving discrepancies and ensuring HRIS accuracy.

Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Collaborate with KUMC departments (WSC HR Payroll IT) the University of Kansas Lawrence campus and State of Kansas agencies on reporting and HRIS transactions.
  • Gather and document customer requirements HR processes and system configurations.
  • Assist with maintaining HR websites (internal and publicfacing) and HR SharePoint site.
  • Create and maintain Workday knowledge articles and training documentation.
  • Document and report the status of ongoing and completed tasks and projects.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across the organization.

Project Support:

  • Support HR projects related to system implementations process improvements and automation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Information Technology or a related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a yearforyear basis.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience working with an HRIS systems such as Workday SAP Oracle HCM or ADP.
  • 1 year experience with HR processes (benefits performance recruitment).

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience with Workday.
  • 1 year of experience creating HRIS reports including proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • 1 year of experience maintaining web content with familiarity in HTML SharePoint or content management systems.
  • Experience with system configuration customization and optimization.

Skills:

  • Analytical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint).
  • Collaboration and communication skills.
  • Work independent and team working skills.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to education experience and training qualifications relative to the requirements of the position and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
