Your role

Youll be a part of our Finance team based in Sydney. Reporting to the Finance Manager the Senior Financial Accountant plays a critical role in delivering timely and accurate Financial Accounting information and analysis to support management in making informed business decisions.

As Senior Financial Accountant you will lead the maintenance of the general ledger to ensure accurate accounting information and reliable financial reporting. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the monthend reporting and ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and accounts are reconciled.

  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by reviewing entries and ensuring proper accounting treatment for transactions.

  • Participate in the yearend statutory reporting and audit including coordinating the required documentation and providing explanations for audit queries.

  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting including the annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.

  • Track actual performance against budget and forecast providing insights and recommendations for variances.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.

  • Communicate financial results to senior management and other stakeholders.

  • Ad hoc tasks

This is an 18month contract fulltime opportunity. Hybrid working (60% in the office) is how we work however flexibility matters at Allens so if you are seeking hybrid working or are looking for flexibility in your work we would be happy to discuss what arrangements would work best for you.

About you

You will have:

  • ICAANZ or CPA qualified with 2 years of postqualification experience.

  • Experience in the professional services sector is desirable.

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.

  • Indepth knowledge of financial accounting analysis and reporting with expertise in applying relevant accounting standards.

  • Expertise in preparing comprehensive financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.

  • Experience overseeing the monthend and yearend closing processes including accounts reconciliation journal entry preparation and ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of financial results.

  • Attention to detail complex problem solving and strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel including advanced functions such as PivotTables VLOOKUP and SUMIFS for comprehensive financial reporting and analysis.

  • Strong communicator who is able to present financial information to nonfinance stakeholders.

  • Client service focus and a willingness to engage with others coupled with a professional approach and presentation.

  • Track record of being able to prioritise tasks and drive efficiency.

  • Proficiency in software applications to optimise financial processes and reporting and improve efficiency.

  • A desire to learn grow network mentor others.
